Testing mechanical performance of adhesively bonded composite joints in engineering applications: an overview

چکیده
The development of new adhesives has allowed to expand the application bonding into most diverse industrial fields. This review article presents commonly used experimental methods for investigation mechanical performance adhesively bonded joints in aerospace, wind energy, automotive and civil engineering sectors. In these sectors, due their excellent intrinsic properties, composite materials are often along with conventional such as steel, concrete aluminium. this context, limitations that traditional joining techniques present, adhesive an alternative. However, standardized procedures not always applicable testing representative industries. Lack relevant regulations across different fields is overcome by academia companies’ own standards. Additional costs thus mitigated sectors relation certification process which effectively can deprive even biggest companies from promoting bonding. To ensure continuous growth field international standards, focusing on actual joints’ rather than specific necessary.
